8-16-25 - RETURN OF THE ERNEST FILM CLUB @ FILM ROW &
ERNEST LOOK-A-LIKE CONTEST

Picture

When: Saturday, August 16th, 6:00pm
Where: FILM ROW SCREENING ROOM (inside the Paramount Building), 701 W Sheridan Ave, OKC, OK
Price: FREE

We're back with the return of THE ERNEST FILM CLUB! In November 2020, we kicked off a series of screenings of the films of Jim Varney's timeless character - ERNEST P. WORRELL. We held these shows in the lobby of the Rodeo Cinema in the OKC Stockyards. The last time we got together was a showing of SNOWBOARD ACADEMY in January of 2022. It's been 3 and a half years, but we're back! Knowwhatimean???

We're teaming up with the OKLAHOMA FILM EXCHANGE at the old Film Room Screening Room to help raise money to KEEP FILM ON FILM ROW! The OFX is fundraising all August with fun screenings and events. Make sure to follow them for more fun shenanigans!

The very first meeting of the ERNEST FILM CLUB was to watch ERNEST GOES TO JAIL, which is my personal favorite Ernest film. For this special one-night-only return, we'll be revisiting this 1990 comedy classic! Dim-witted Ernest (Jim Varney) is a janitor at a bank who gets called for jury duty. It turns out that the murder defendant, Felix Nash (also Varney), is a dead ringer for Ernest. Nash's lawyer (Jeffrey Buckner Ford) arranges a switch, and Ernest finds himself on death row while Nash goes to work at the bank, scheming up a way to rob it. Ernest then sets in motion a plan to escape jail, foil Nash's plot, snag the bank clerk job he covets and rescue his favorite teller, Charlotte (Barbara Bush). TWO ERNESTS FOR THE PRICE OF ONE!

Also, special guest RAYGUN BUSCH (from Chat Pile) will be hosting with us!

We'll be screening some classic Ernest commercials and TV episodes before the show, so come early and hang with us! We'll also be having an ERNEST LOOK-A-LIKE CONTEST!!

"Death row? You mean like the chair, the hot seat, dead meat, deep 6, it's over pal, you're outta here bub, the groundhogs are bringing you your mail, you're picking turnips with a step ladder, the no tomorrow row? That kind of row? Oh no. The row?" - Ernest P. Worrell

**PRESENTED ON ORIGINAL VHS IN GLORIOUS PAN & SCAN**

You can get adult beverages and snacks from the nearby CORE4 BREWERY, THE STUDY, and OKCIDER!

Rodeo Cinema on Film Row is located within the historic Paramount Building at 701 W Sheridan Ave, Oklahoma City, OK.

8-22-25 - LAWNMOWER MAN 2 - VHS GRINDHOUSE/OFX FUNDRAISER @ FILM ROW

When: Friday, August 22nd at 7:00pm
Where: Film Row Screening Room, 701 W Sheridan Ave, Oklahoma City, OK
Price: FREE! ($5.00 Suggested Donation)

2025 is here and VHSANDCHILL OKC is resurrecting one of our classic screening series from days past - VHS GRINDHOUSE is back!
VHS GRINDHOUSE is a series of classic films that may or may not be the greatest films ever made! This VHS delights are pulled straight from the VHSANDCHILL OKC collection. Movies that DESERVE their day in court for the crimes committed TO them or BY them! These films will scream from the heavens the madness that is their message! We'll also have a fun giveaway with the book VIDEOTAPES FROM HELL from The Floating Bookshop!

Jobe (Matt Frewer) exists as a malevolent consciousness in virtual reality and seeks to discover the technology to hack into all the world's computers. Jobe contacts Peter (Austin O'Brien), who had been a friend during his corporeal existence, to assist him, but the young man realizes Jobe's evil intent. Peter calls on Benjamin (Patrick Bergin), a brilliant computer engineer, to help thwart Jobe's scheme for world domination, and a battle rages throughout cyberspace and in the real world.

Continuing our year long series of screening films that were released in the far-flung past year of 1996, LAWNMOWER MAN 2 is one we've been waiting for. This film only had a worldwide theatrical gross of $2.4 million against a $15 million budget. Pierce Brosnan was asked to reprise his role from the original. Strangely, he passed to film some movie called GOLDENEYE or something. I dunno, anyway, I may or may not (I did) buy some actual screen-used props from this masterpiece (because of course I did) and we're going to have some fun with this showing!
This has been a LOOOONG time coming. We know you've been waiting and hoping for the day that we screen LAWNMOWER MAN 2 on VHS. Well, get ready because your dreams have COME TRUE!

"Out there, people look at me and they see half a person. But in here, they see what I want them to see...how I really am." - Jobe Smith

In early 2016 it all started with the dream of having an old school TV wall, the kind we all saw in our favorite 80's and 90's flicks. After a few trips to some local thrifts stores, I had more than enough old TVs and VCRs. It was about this time I came into a collection of a few thousand VHS tapes and not long after VHSANDCHILL nights were born. Every month or so we started showings of classic 80's and 90's movies. As these showings became more popular we began doing some theme showings and marathons. We enjoy watching these showings bring in people from every age group and all walks of life. VHS is dead. Long live VHS!
